Dried fruits are also essential ingredients in making chutneys and they add up great tart and flavor to the dish.

Here is a recipe of common chutney that is a most common chutney dish in almost all household. It is the very popular tamarind chutney.

Ingredient: 200gms Tamarind (Imli),300gms Jaggery (Gur) grated, 2 tsp Roasted cumin(Jeera) Powder, 2 tsp Red chili powder, Salt to taste, 1 tsp Black salt , 1 tsp Garam masala.

Preparation: Put 5 cups of water in the tamarind, bring to the flame and cook for 10 minutes. After that, strain the mixture with a strainer and add add the jaggery, chilli powder, cumin powder, salt, garam masala and mix them well. Cook until the jaggery dissolves and the chutney becomes thick. Cool it and have a special taste to all your snacks.
