Gulab Jamun

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 cup Milk Powder
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • Whole milk
  • Oil for frying
Sugar Syrup:
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 cups Sugar
  • 4-5 cardamom sticks
  • Saffron
Preparation:

It is better to make the sugar syrup earlier. Mix the sugar in the water. Put few strands of saffron and the cardamoms in it and set the flame to medium and heat the mixture until the sugar is dissolved in the water completely. As the mixture will have a suitable consistency then remove it from flame but keep it warm by putting it on stove.

Now prepare to make the gulab jamuns. Make the dough by mixing butter, milk powder, and Bisquick. Make 18-20 balls by means of the dough by rolling them between your palms.Once all the balls are ready, place them on a plate and cover them with a semi dry and semi damp piece of clean cloth. Take oil in the pan and set the flame to medium. Heat the oil and put the ballsin the oil one by one from the side of the pan. At first the balls will sink at the base of the pan and keep on stirring them gently so that they become brown evenly from all sides. The balls will start rising after about 5 minutes. The temperature is very important in case of frying the gulab jamuns. If the balls rise slowly to the top, then the temperature is right. If the temperature rises then the jamuns are, tend to get broken into pieces. So put a constant tab on the temperature ans always keep it at a medium range. The balls should be fried very slowly as it ensures that all of them are not just brown from outside but also well cooked inside. As all the balls are ready, transfer them to the hot syrupand keep them overnight in it and serve the following day at room temperature.
