Here are some of the simple cooking tips for making the activities in the kitchen easy, time saving and comfortable. These cooking tips will not only help one to finish the ordeal of cooking in an advantageous way but will also help in enhancing the taste and flavor of the food items. The tips on cooking will also provide guidance to manage the various forms of cooking procedures, such as, steaming, frying and to manage the different cooking ingredients. They are included in the household tips to make the home management a far easier affair.

Tips for different cooking ingredients

  • It is advisable to wash the vegetables and fruits before peeling or cutting them, as this helps in preserving the water-soluble nutrients largely. On the same note, one should know that it is also not good to over wash the fruits and the vegetables, as much f the nutrients get washed away by this.
  • The rinds of the vegetables should be peeled of as thin as possible, because, it helps in retaining the vitamins and the minewrals. If you are cutting apple then it tends to get black very often. In order to prevent it, put some lemon juice after cutting it. This will make it appear fresh for a long time.
  • If you find it diificult to peel of the almonds, then soak, them in water for some time and the skin will come out easily. It is not required to soak them in water overnight.
  • Put the coriander leaves wrapped in cheesecloth and cut the stems of chillies while refrigerating them. These help them to look fresh. Fruits can ve wrapped in newspaper for the same purpose.
  • Peel of the onions and soak them in water for sometime before cutting them. This will prevent the tears coming out of your eyes while cutting them.
  • Do not cut or chop the vegetables on the stone slabs, this makes the edge of the knive blunt. So always, cut or chop the vegetables in a wooden slabs or boards.
Tips on cooking procedures
  • It is better to add 2 – 3 cups of water to I cup of dal. The dal should be soaked in water for few hours before cooking and if it is a whole pulse then it should be kapt in water overnight. This makes the dish far more edible and putting hot water in the gravy of the dal makes the taste far better.
  • It is better to put some water at the bottom of the vessel in which we will be boiling milk, as this will prevent the milk to stick to the buttom of the vessel.
  • If you want to have the potatoes baked in a little time, then put them into water for some time before baking them.
  • If you are frying the onion and the spices at the base of the cooker and then adding the raw vegetables mixed with enough salt to it then it will take little time to be prepared, saving the overall cooking time.
Cooking tips on frying
  • If you add little rice flour in the dough while kneading it for makin puris then the puris will become very crispy.
  • For making crispy pakoras, add some corn flour with the besan in time of making the batter. It is also nice to add ½ tsp of baking powder to the oil before frying the pakodas.
  • If you put liitle salt in the oil before frying something, then it won’t be splattered all over.
